PrairieBaby Maine Coon Cats
PrairieBaby Hope Springs Eternal P (Whalebear P)
Our sweet little Dolly P had 7 Coonletts from her lover and friend Coldoldbear. Whalebear P is one of them.
Whalebear P, 17 months old
Whalebear is a White Maine Coon with four Polydactyl feet, good size and boning, nice coat and superb temperament- a combination that I don't consider too common. Whalebear P weighed 14 pounds at 17 months of age.
Whalebear P, showing off his huge paws
What has been improved in this breeding? Well, first of all we have combined two great cats in one and added another generation to the mixture - this helps for sure, ha.
Whalebear has improved his father's chin and profile and has inherited his mother's picture perfect gums and teeth. This boy is good enough that we can get both parents spayed and neutered and work with him, his brother Sylvan and his sister Jelly Roll P instead.
Would you like to see Whalebear grow up?

Whalebear don't take a no for a no when he wants us. Him and his siblings are extreme lovers and it's no wonder. Their parents and all four grandparents are already way too cuddly! Help!!
Whalebear P has six toes on his front and back feet! We call this a four wheel drive in breeder language :)). This link has more information on Polydactylism in Maine Coon cats:

About our Polydactyl line:
Even though about 40 % of the original Maine Coon breed was supposedly Polydactyl, some associations have closed the doors on most of these precious lines. To my knowledge, by the year 1999, only one active Polydactyl line was left in our breed. A couple have been added by foundation breeders since then. Polydactylism is naturally a wonderful trait of our breed. It is NOT a harmful mutation or deformity.
We decided in 2000 to start a new Polydactyl line here in Canada. We were very enthusiastic about this new creation at the time and proudly called it "The Masterweaver Line". ...............Over the years we have poured a lot of passion into these cats - in order to improve their weaknesses and enhance their natural strenghts. Of course the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but we think that the project is slowly turning into fine piece of art.
The strengths of our Poly line is extreme affection, heavy bonedness, a moderate type, super coat, wonderful weight and perfect gums and teeth. Since good quality Polydactyl Maine Coons are very rare we had basically kept everything with Poly feet for our own breeding program in the past. We have only recently started to release the first Poly kittens into the gene pool. Please e-mail us for more information on Polydactylism in Maine Coons.
