PrairieBaby Maine Coon Cats

Offspring Show Case
Frequent updates!

This page was created as a showcase for our 2006 male and female offspring .  All cats on this page have a VERY high foundation content.  (Please note that NONE of the kitties  below are available! and only ONE of them is living with us!)

2006 was the year of our big move to Thunder Bay, Ontario. As a result, some of our valuable breeding Maine Coons had to be placed with breeder friends whom we can trust. We finally have found some time to display some of results of these 2006 breedings.

Here is Prairiebaby Texas PP, a 2006 offspring kitten from the breeding Prairiepaws PP x Tigger.

Texas, 1 year old on picture

This gorgeous boy was born at our house last year. Texas is living in a pet home in Toronto with Ryan and Joanne Reeson. He is F6 and about 38 % newer foundation lines. We repeated this breeding in 2007 because of the excellent quality of all 6 kittens in this litter. Charlotti is one of the kittens from the same breeding in 2007.

Here is Mr. Hobbit PP. Hobbit was from an F5 breeding we did with a lovely female from Kumskaka Maine Coons. This boy is from our Masterweaver Polydactyl line and almost 4/5 foundation. His temperament cannot be described, other than he adores children and has a great passion for dogs. He is now neutered after making us some wonderful white Poly kittens.

I love combining my lines with Kumskaka lines because they work so well together!
(note that this breeding was done at Kumskaka in Michigan)

Hobbit has babies with Jelly Roll PP at the moment. We will be keeping a White Polydactyl female from the two of them.

We also tried a full (100 %) foundation breeding with Coonopry Maine Coons. And what a good idea that was!

This is Hazelnut (previously called Rosie). I think she is really pretty! Hazelnut is F4 and people who used to come to Sheila's house to look at babies usually picked her :-)

Hazelnut has 5 lovely babies from Sylvan at the moment. The decision on which baby to keep will be VERY difficult!

Parents to Hazelnut are  Jericho, our F3 full foundation male and Loretta, an F3 Koontucky foundation female, owned by  Coonopry. (note that this breeding was done in Texas at Coonopry).

Jericho makes such wonderful babies! He also sired a litter with Jelly Roll PP. Pictured below is Buttercup. She is an F4 kitten from Jelly Roll PP and Jericho. The foundation content in this breeding is about 97 %. This breeding was done at our house.

Next: Here are some gorgeous F3 females that resulted from a breeding we did with our F2 female Ashanti and the F4 boy Plowpawpuppy. These girls are ca. 98 % (almost full)  foundation and one of them is already a Champion! (note that this litter was raised by Lykken Maine Coons in Denmark).

Ashanti is now back home in Canada and will be bred to Tigger or Estevan in the winter. Next year we are planning to breed her to a male offspring from Hazelnut x Sylvan.

There were a couple more breedings. We will display them when we find the time. I should probably mention that I was told the temperament in all these Maine Coons is phenominal!

About our  Polydactyl line:

Even though about 40 % of the original Maine Coon breed was supposively polydactyl, some associations have closed the doors on most of these precious lines. In 1999, to my knowledge, there was only one acitve Polydactyl line left in our breed. A couple have been added by foundation breeders since then. Polydactylism is naturally a wonderful trait of our breed. It is NOT a harmful mutation or deformity.

We decided in 2000 to start a new Polydactyl line here in Canada. We were very enthusiastic about this new creation at the time and proudly called it "The Masterweaver Line". ...............Over the years we have poured a lot of passion into these cats - in order to improve their weaknesses and enhance their natural strenghts.  Of course the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder but we think that the project is slowly turning into fine piece of art.

The strengths of our Poly line is extreme affection, heavy bonedness, a moderate type, super coat, wonderful weight and perfect gums and teeth. Since good quality Polydactyl Maine Coons are very rare we had basically kept everything with Poly feet for our own breeding program in the past.

We have only recently started to release the first Poly kittens into the gene pool. Please e-mail us for more information on Polydactylism in Maine Coons.
